Vas Banned. Oct 25, 4, I wanted to post about this in the Resetera official skateboarding thread For all I know, it's a dead hobby with the explosion of online gaming. Oct 27, 4, I also sorta got back into skateboarding, although it was only a few years break. Wow do I suck, but taking it all step-by-step so I avoid breaking my ankle on a misjudged kickflip.
I figure it is a physical activity AND it is actually fun, so may as well get back into it. Now I'm just waiting for the cold weather to go away so I can start again another break these past few freezing months.
I previously quit because I had to walk three or four miles shitty sidewalks to a place to skate without getting busted and I wasn't having that with my school work happening. Woot woot for old hobbies, OP! You can get those old skills back! At least for me. Weeks in and I was struggling to properly land a frontside I ain't even started grinding yet!

I'm in my early 30s as well and often think about taking up skateboarding again. I was very passionate about skating back when I was in high school; though I always felt like I was never as good as I should have been for how much I skated.
Haven't really been into skateboarding since maybe I think there are a couple hurdles for getting back into skateboarding as an adult for me. The first being that none of my friends skate or would skate anymore, so I would be going solo I always loved skating with a friend and motivating each other to improve. The other is that I feel very brittle in my "old" age. I tend to get injured much easier these days and can throw my back out simply sitting in a chair wrong.
I rolled my ankle quiet a bit back in the day when skating and have a fear of breaking an ankle or leg if I were to skate now. I long for the days of being young and free with little responsibility. I started keeping my skateboard at my desk at work recently and will use it to go back and forth between my company's office buildings.
Every now and then I try some trick along the way, but that fear of injury is still in the back of my head in a way it never was when I was younger. Qasiel Member. Oct 27, 1, Weird, but I used to skate around the same years and then put it down for a long time. Since then I've become really interested in surfing and snowboarding which my skating experience helped with, to some degree. The last few summers have been spent cruising around on my Sector 9 in local parks whilst my wife gets back in touch with roller skating.
I'm 32 and she's I'm nowhere near what I used to be on a skateboard, but to be honest I wasn't anything special. I agree with you that it's best to learn to actually ride the thing first instead of doing stationary tricks and all that. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather again so I can start riding around as I kinda miss it.
Glad you're getting back in touch with an old hobby, and one as cool as skateboarding. Also, obligatory:. Click to expand Human Resources said:. Oct 25, 3, I'm almost Picked up a cheap blank from a local skate shop along with my go-to Indy trucks, Bones bearings, and Spitfire wheels about a year ago. Last time I'd skated I was about 17 years and 60 pounds lighter. I bailed trying to do a tail brake and, even though I remembered how to bail "properly", it still hurt like a son-of-a-bitch and I gave the board away a few months later when we moved.
I've always said that if I get back down to my high school weight I'd try again, but honestly my ankles were shot part of why I stopped skating in the first place and they've only got worse with age. Add in the greater amount of fear of falling and seriously hurting myself at my age, and it probably won't happen again.

I was more into speed down slope and racing than tricks. My ankles are pretty shot though, I know it's just not a good idea anymore. Van Bur3n Avenger. Oct 27, 24, Stinkles Banned. You can find it quite easy to ride as it is longer than other boards.
Its bigger contact patch on its wheels provides optimal grip but remains a comfortable cruising experience. There is a long kicktail and a flatter surface on the board deck to help you find balance. We are really impressed with its components. The skateboard feels sturdy, mainly as it is slightly bigger than most other cruisers and trucks. We have to say, it is a good bang for your buck.
If you only want to cruise and hop several curbs, it might be the right board for you. So you have gone through our topic for the question " Am I too old to start skateboarding? What's your opinion? Are you still thinking picking up a skateboard is not for you? You can ride it as long as you are in good shape and take your time to learn skateboarding regularly.
